Supported Contact

What Is Supported Contact?

Supported contact is a structured form of contact where a staff member is on site, available to offer light support and guidance if needed, but does not directly observe the entire session. This option is often used when:

  • Contact has been agreed but trust and communication need rebuilding.
  • There has been a long period of separation and gentle reintroduction is helpful.
  • Families need a neutral environment to avoid conflict during handovers.
  • The child is anxious or needs emotional reassurance at the start of sessions.

Our staff are nearby and able to:

  • Offer calm guidance or support if emotions run high.
  • Step in only if needed — allowing privacy for natural bonding.
  • Welcome families at arrival and ensure smooth handovers.
  • Provide a safe environment where the child’s wellbeing is prioritised.

Our Approach

We provide a calm, neutral space where families can reconnect with light, nearby support. Our staff remain on site to offer reassurance if needed, while giving parents and children the space to build trust naturally and safely.
